More Plushies!

I have continued my venture into plushie making with the breakfast buddies. My toast seemed to be a hit with the people at work - I even got one of our service advisors to laugh out loud at it because he thought it was so cute! The next day I went ahead and started making the egg since I thought that might be the easiest, and this is what I got! I think that it turned out rather well, other than the one eye that's smaller than the other....he he. I'm still perfecting my sewing if you couldn't tell. It's a work in progress....

When I was making my toast Eli was, in the least, amused. I don't know if he thought I was strange for making them or if he just liked them, but when I was finished he would always look at them and laugh and say "How cute....". When I finished my second piece of toast for the night he told me I should make one for our friend Cody, who he works with. He told me that I should make a plushie of Cody's head, and he is a white boy with an afro......so here are the end results.

Cody thought it was funny. lol.

I went to Michael's to get some felt and I was hoping that they had a peach color, but they had every other color besides peach! :) I ended up buying Ivory and Pink. I figured I could use one or the other or both of them together, but the pink was too much and layering the two would be too thick. I decided to go with the Ivory, which you could see through slightly, and it turned out pretty well I say. This plushie, when looking at it from the side, is about a half inch thick. - I'm trying JoAnne's for felt next time thanks to the advice of Elizabeth from Sew Amore! -

I need to look up how to create a better looking stitch on my plushies, this just doesn't seem right. It seems like it could be straight up and down seams rather than slanted. I saw a link to a site called Sublime Stitching on A Beautiful Mess and this place has it all for needlepoint stitching! I have never really done it, and as of right now I don't intend on picking it up (although I did see a cool design for a zippered pouch with a pen and pencil stitching) it does offer a How-To section. Awesome!

I'm trying to draw out some good pictures of the coffee breakfast buddy so I can make one that somewhat compares to Aiwa's. I have some friends that said they would like some so I will try my hardest to get that done ASAP. Until then, happy wandering.

Those are so cute! I love the little egg! Keep up the amazing work!

I am a huge fan of Sublime Stitching! Her work is amazing! I have almost bought her book a couple times but decided I'm not ready to really get into embroidery right now. Maybe in the future :)

if thats the cody i think you're talking about--that looks just like him! haha thats adorable!! and thanks for mentioning me! yay :D you can buy like 2" or how ever much you use of felt at joanns and use coupons on it too...i think it ends up being cheaper. i think felt squares are about .25 cents each there. you should make like, a plate with bacon and eggs on it. i would totally buy it from you! :D

oh i meant to ask, do you needle felt any of it or is it sewn? i'm a plushie newbie :D i've really wanted to try needle felting, but the tools and wool are expensive from my work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1gMTKYnzWo&feature=related

Thank you! When Eli mentioned making that I thought of that straight away lol. I love mentioning friends on my blog! I may not have many readers but I love introducing friends work to others! I think you've convinced me to go to JoAnnes this weekend. lol. A sheet of felt the size of regular paper is .29 at Michaels!

I have never even heard of needle felting until just now. Thank you SO MUCH for including that video link! I would love to try it! That flower she made would be cute for SO many things!! I just buy the felt, cut it out, sew it, and stuff it. lol. I had no idea there was such a thing as needle felting! That's awesome! Thank you!!

Oh, and thank you Carol! I don't think I would be doing as many crafts as I am today if I hadn't seen your blog and then been introduced to all those other blogs! Thank you!

oh so i wanted to try my hand at the plush making and bought some felt today...turns out the felt squares at joanns are .29 cents each too...and for like, 2 or 3" of felt by the yard...it'd be like .31 cents (its 4.99/yd)...i was thinking of making some little pb&j sandwiches :D

OH and needle felting looks SO COOL...and i never knew we sold all the things to do it at my work because it was literally in the farther corner of the store behind a bunch of books, lmao. they sell different colors of wool in packages and then the needlings (some of them have a bunch of needles together instead of one needled punching at a time..for like bigger projects..) but they are kind of pricey. i saw alot of videos and blogs about people who like to buy their wool and dye it themselves to make more unique flowers/critters. :D

That is pretty dran good since you can only buy sheets of it at Michaels. I'm gonna check the site and sign up for coupons too! lol. If you make to pb&j sandwiches I want to see them! That sounds like a really great idea!

I'm gonna try to go to JoAnns tomorrow, but with all the places I;ve got to go tomorrow I'm not sure if I can....and I will have to check out the needle felting section, I may have to invest in that! lol.

I saw your toast and it is SO cute! I might have to steal that idea! I really want to see your cookie!!! I love your little felt creations!! Can't wait to see more! I'm hoping I can stay up on them before and after the move, but I can for sure do a lot AFTER the move....in about 2 weeks....lol

And I still have to check daily for new comments, so if you could walk me through that process I would greatly appreciate it lol. Thanks!
