Once a Foodie, Always a Foodie

So I am posting this in hopes that it will get me to kickstart a blog that I've been putting off. This blog will be entirely devoted to cooking. Mostly baking as I'm wanting to become involved in it but I will also be posting other dishes I've been cooking that are new to me or a great old recipe. This is a quick post as I'm in the process of going to bed but was wanting to write this out before I pass out. Hopefully this will serve as a good reminder for me.

(This was the first time I made this cake -turned out great! Want the recipe? Just ask! It's Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake. Yummmm.)

Another idea for a blog that I had was a story blog. I've been wanting to write a book, some sort of fantasy, and I feel that it would be a good start in storytelling for me. You know, just start a post making it the beginning of the story and continue that story throughout the posts. I don't know. Just another one of my ramblings. :)

I ♥ Gina Carano

Gina "Conviction" Carano's got a big fan base behind her, especially since she's 7-0 and one badass Muay Thai fighter. She's also a great role model for younger women, I mean, just watch some of her interviews; she's a very humble woman. She was one of the very first women in a sanctioned female MMA fight and at 27 years old she is dominating the octagon. I think shes a great inspiration to women and young girls everywhere. Not saying that a lot of little girls are wanting to get in MMA or anything of the sort but she shows how much one woman can get accomplished. She's young, beautiful, and has one hell of a kick.

I've never been into blood sports or anything but I started watching the UFC when Chuck Liddell got pretty big and it's almost been an addiction of mine. Since discovering Gina Carano I've been an avid watcher and love to see the destruction she can leave behind her. I recently watched her last fight which was against Kelly Kobold, knowing she was going to win since she's fighting Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos this Saturday, and she did quite a bit of damage. Carano delivered a few hellacious blows to Kobold's eyebrow, leaving a huge gash. Carano ended up winning in the end by unanimous decision, and rightly so.

And so the countdown to the big fight between Carano and Cyborg has begun. I had assumed that it was going to be on Pay-Per-View, however, while watching her last fight with Kobold I saw a commercial announcing that it would be on Showtime this Saturday! Thank God for satellite television. This fight is gonna be big. Carano's record is 7-0-0 with her fighting style being a mix of Boxing and Muay Thai and Cyborg's record is 7-1-0 with her fighting style being Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. So each of these tremendous women have won seven fights while Gina still remains undefeated and Cristiane has only one loss. Even if I watch the fight, I'm SO gonna DVR this.

A Fireworks Show To-Go, Please

Hope everyone had a great fourth of July. It was raining off and on all day but once it got dark the rain finally stopped. Thats Mid-Missouri weather for you.

My sister and myself took a two-hour drive to meet up with our mom and hang out with our grandma. We had a great time; when we got into town we stopped at Crossroads convenience store and ran into our cousin Andrew. He's apparently got to have surgery on the 9th and probably chemotherapy after that. He seems like he's in a good mood about it though.

While we were at grandmas Megan and myself went outside and took a few pictures since there were tons of hummingbirds out off grandma's front porch. We saw a Rose of Sharon bush with beautiful purple flowers on it and a viny flower that had a bell shape to it and was a pretty orange. There was just so much beauty on the farm. Two of my favorite pictures turned out to be of inanimate objects; a field full of hay bales and a dead broken tree next to a pond.

It was a great day with Grandma, Megan, and Mom. It was rainy so we were stuck in the house but it was definitely a blast. As Megan and myself were leaving the rain started pouring so the drive back was a little intense. Nothing too bad though, it was off and on but still a little crazy.

To top all that off, on my ride home after dropping off my sister at her house the rain tapered off and I had a great little light show going on all around me. It was amazing, although it made it a little bit harder to drive and pay attention to the road. But, when I got home I just went outside my front door watching fireworks to my left and right. It was a very good day.

Signing off for tonight, peace and love,

Kayla

My Take on Edward Pattinson

I will admit....I was a little indifferent about ole Rob in the begining. But after searching so much about Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn all while reading the books.....he's REALLY grown on me. I think part of it might be that I knew what he looked like in the movie so I could picture him while reading easier, but he really is a VERY, VERY handsome man. I mean, just look at this picture.....he's brooding, eyes peircing right through you...and he looks damn good in a suit and tie. And that hair! I have read that he said he doesn't wash his hair that often. But it still looks good baby! It's just got that windswept look, or possibly just a case of really good looking bed head, whatever you want to call it. I call it georgoeus.

It's not just his looks either, his acting talent is amazing. Not like I'm anyone who can really talk about acting abilities but he does a great job in Twilight. I feel like a giddy little girl very time I watch the first scene in the Biology class...or when he calls her Spider Monkey! You couldn't slap the grin off my face! He really makes you fall in love with the character. My only complaint about Twilight the movie is that they didn't develop their characters as well as they did in the book. Personally, I read the book before I even watched the movie and I thought that it sort of seemed like Edward was a creepy stalker at first and Bella just fell in love REAL fast. I do, however, realize that they probably had to cut a lot of good things for the movie. I just feel that they should have developed their characters so we could see how they were in the book. I REALLY wanted to see the part in the book where Bella had to be taken to the nurse from Biology because the drew blood and it made her sick......oh well. I'm sure that New Moon will more than make up for any disappointments that I have. (Even though they aren't really that big of a deal to me).

There was this one picture of Robert that I found online of him laying in the water and I really wanted to share that with you, however, at this exact moment I can't seem to find it. I really don't feel like stumbling around my room ar this exact second to find my keys and then my jump drive so I'll make sure to poat that one sometime soon. In the meantime, I've found this sexy little picture, but I believe it's just a photoshoot and nothing in the movie.

I am so psyched! I finished Eclipse last night and I'm waiting on the return of Breaking Dawn from my roommate which shouldn't be here too far away......Lovin it!

Alright, off to bed now but I will post that picture ASAP so you can enjoy in the vast gloriousness of it as well. Toodles!

Heeeeeeeeeere's Kayla!

Well, it's been a while since I've been able to get on here. I used to get on during work (whoops.....lol) but since then I've moved from my job in Service to my job in Sales (not selling- helping out our internet department, taking pics of cars for eBay) I don't have quite as much time as I used to. Now I have to drag the ole' laptop to friends houses or places with wireless internet and take advantage when I can. Well, I haven't been able to take advantage for a while, lol.

Let me catch you up to all the happenings.

We, meaning my boyfriend and myself, bought a 40 inch LCD Toshiba Television at the beginning of December. I ended up putting a little over half on a Best Buy credit card (my first!) and we are paying it off (with no interest, pretty good deal!). Well, my boyfriends brother brought his Wii over and left it at our house for a long time. We played it quite a bit and normally put the wrist straps on our hands. Eli, me, and two of our friends were playing bowling - not even in the 6th frame - and when Eli goes to swing our friend Corey puts his feet out in front of Eli and he hits Corey foot and the WiiMote goes flying into our new TV. This happened about 3 weeks ago. I'll post pics as soon as I can. THAT was frustrating.

That happens shortly AFTER my doctor tells me to reduce the stress in my life as much as possible.

I have recently been diagnosed with something they are giving me pills for - I believe muscle relaxers - to help with the major pain in my left side. I keep the pills in a little cubby on a nightstand next to my side of the bed in their pill bottle. Just last week, not too long after I left for work, Eli went to the restroom and left Jada out with Koda (our boxer - J - and mix - K -). She's been known to tear some stuff up but nothing too bad....well, Eli comes out of the bathroom and Jada's sitting on our bed with my pill bottle next to her, dust on the bed, and no pills to be found. Eli had called me just as I got to my desk at work. Jada just ate some of your pills and I have no clue what they are, what do I do? OK, I had no idea at this point so I go home and on my way there I call her regular vet. They ask what the pills were and at this point I wasn't sure....so they said to make her throw up give her 1/4 cup of Peroxide and wait 15 minutes. If she hasn't thrown up by then, give her another 1/4 cup - but no more - and wait 15 more minutes. When I got to the house Eli's brother and his boyfriend were there and had already called the vet and had already given her the first dose. After 15 minutes she didn't throw up so we got ready to give her the second dose. Eli and myself held her upright, Zach held her mouth open, and Ian poured it in her mouth.......well, she ended up spitting it all out on all of our faces! It was so nasty. She ended up throwing up, but when it got to her mouth she would always eat it again, so we were getting nowhere. I called the vet and told them what it was and they said she'd be fine, just watch her and make sure she ate and if she started acting funny to call them. Poor thing was so tired the rest of the day........but she did good. The bad thing is now every night when I take my pills she rushes right up to me sniffing the air to see what I've got.....silly girl.

Right now I'm enthralled in Blogger while Zachs playing Rock Band 2 and Eli and Ian are watching races on another computer. I swear Eli's addicted. That's all he does when he gets on a computer. Eh, better than some other addictions though, right?

RANDOM THOUGHT: I just remembered the homemade cookies that I made the other day. It was from a recipe on the back of Nestle Chocolate Chip bag. I used Toll House Milk Chocolate Chunks though......yumm......they were oh......so.....good. They went way to fast. I like baking and I thought that stuff like that would last around my house since its just me and Eli.....but no. He claims he doesn't like sweets much but when I made those cookies (there were about 30 of them) I had a handful and they were gone in 5 days! I told him he needed to slow down. The cookies were still better than the pre made cookie dough you buy at stores. The only down side to that is the salmonella risk.....ha ha....thats why I buy the dough - to eat it!

I've been checking out online schools for interior design.....the only problem that I keep running into is that some of them aren't accredited.....What to do, what to do........I'm sure I'll blog about that later though.

I've run out of stuff to say for now......
