Wintry Wreath

I decided after seeing some amazing wreaths online that I had to make one.....this is what I came up with....

All I did was purchase a styrofoam wreath from my local JoAnn Fabrics Store, wrapped some white yarn around it, then added a few lines of blue yarn. I didn't think that was quite enough so I decided to make some flowers. I tinkered around for a little while and decided that circles of felt would make some cute flowers when glued together.....until I made my first one. Don't get me wrong, I think it turned out beautifully, but it stuck out waaaaay too far for my liking. I ended up cutting the circles in half and then gluing the pieces together and got much smaller flowers that I thought looked perfect on my wreath. I think I will have to do a tutorial on them :)

Anyway, once I got my flowers together I wanted to see what they looked like on the wreath without gluing them - just in case I didn't like the layout (this is how much of a perfectionist I am). I have TONS of needles with pearl white balls on the end from my wedding and just pushed those through the hole in the middle of the felt flowers and ended up loving it so much I just kept it like that! What's great is that if I decide to rearrange the flowers it will be easy peasy! And the little !POP! of white in the middle looks gorgeous!

I wasn't sure what to do to hang it up but I had bought some sheer white ribbon for about fifty cents and decided that would look good with it.....so I cut off enough ribbon for it to hang just right, looped it through my wreath, and zig zag stitched the ends of it together and tacked it up to my wall. Conspicuous enough, right? I thought it turned out pretty well :)

A Mobile for my Niece

I have been looking at some wonderful  mobiles on the internet lately and decided I would make my own for little miss Emma.....who should be here within the month. Her room is going to be pink, purple, and PRINCESS! I got my inspiration from the mobile below ↓↓

Found Here
Isn't that just precious?? I love it! I wanted to do something like it but decided to go with wire hangers. My idea for it changed a few times.....I wanted to use one hanger and then create small triangles out of another and hang those from the first hanger, yarn wrap them, and then make a chain of felt leaves.....then I just decided to go with this.....

I am in the process of creating a tutorial for this if you would like to do it as well.....just watch my blog for that post soon!

Felt Super Sale!!

So I think that the crafting gods have been sending me some not-so-subtle hints that I need to start crafting some more. First off, two nights ago when I got home from work I had a mailer from JoAnns giving me lots (and I mean lots) of ideas for this upcoming holiday season and lots of coupons as well. I also noticed right away that they are having a sale on 9x12 inch sheets of felt.....they are normally .29 cents a piece and they have them on sale for 4 for $1! Now I was definitely excited but imagine my excitement when I opened the mailer for Michaels this week (which was left in the breakroom this morning from someones newspaper....and I'm the only crafty one in the building so I pilfered it)....they have them on sale for 5 for $1!!! (Cheap thrills people, they're great!) So, I did some shopping/craft therapy on my lunch break yesterday and got 20 sheets of felt!! I mainly wanted to get some more to replace what I have been using for one of the projects I have been working on for a while......they just don't seem to have that certain color at JoAnns that I need for my racc.......ummmm.....I'll leave it at that :) That project is sort of a secret......at least from the world of bloggers until I can get things down.

Anyway, this post is really just to inform any and all bloggers looking for cheap felt, who have a Michaels nearby, to go to Michaels before Sunday! I went today and they had already run out of a few colors so get to moving people! I did happen to pick up some festive holiday colors as well so maybe I can make something cute and Christmasy soon.

Pretty.
Anyways, happy shopping all!

Since I'm Going To Be An Aunt....

..........I have so many ideas that are flowing through me! I have already ventured into onesie making and plushie making and that is mostly what my thoughts consist of so this should be fairly do-able. I have found some cute iron-on transfers for baby onesies and for pregnant women and I would like to attempt to make my own sometime. I have also seen some really cool repurpose tutorials for childrens clothes and would like to try that as well! I have got baby fever so thank goodness for my sister having her baby, lol...This way I can get my baby time in before we try for a little one :)  which is going to be a while.

I have also been looking into toys to make for children when they're older.....I know I would have loved play sets made of felt. I have had some really great inspiration from the few photos below.

The above three pictures are all pay-to-downloads available on etsy if you click on the links below. The next few are pieces I made but I am considering again, but larger :)

I really need to work on my photography skills. This should hopefully prove to be worthy of photographing once we figure out what she is having and I get things going! Anyway, those toys are more for older children so I have some time for those.

So.......does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for cute kids toys? I would love to hear all your ideas and maybe I can even try a few! I have a few tricks up my sleeve! :)

I have also been working on a few things I may or may not use but I will definitely shoot and post when they're done!

Pancakes!

I have had so much on my mind with moving and the wedding and such that I forgot to post about the pancakes that I made months ago! And these are not pancakes that you eat.....no I don't post many things like that here :) These little cuties are part of a set of Kawaii felt plushies that I have made after seeing this tutorial by aiwa and this picture.

This is how my pancakes turned out...

One keychain and one magnet. You can see the green around the edges.....I have solved that little issue by buying a disappearing ink marker! I remember when I was younger we would go to the fairs and get tiny bottles of disappearing ink, and this is the exact same stuff! I give that stuff an A++ since I would have never thought it could be a useful tool like that :)

Pencil Cups

I got this idea from Jessica at How About Orange. At work they always throw away these cans the had some kind of grease or glue or something you generally need for cars and I thought it would be perfect! Cleaned out, of course. Here's what happened.

I now realize that I should have actually put pencils in the cups, but its all good. The one on the left was one of Jessica's ideas, cutting holes in the felt and putting various colors behind it. The one on the right says TOYOTA even though you can't really see it. I work at a Toyota dealership and I put this out on the service counter since the one we had was covered in paper.

The cup on the left is 'chunkier' than what I thought it would be, but looking back at Jessica's design she used mostly fabric for the design in the holes. That'll be my craft cup though, if I need to make more, I know what to do!

Well, I just wanted to show these off! :) If you want to see Jessica's tutorial click here.

Yumm....Felt Strawberries!

I found this tutorial not too long ago and have been itching to do it since! I didn't think that I had plain red felt so I used my glitter red and green that came in a $4 random pack. I later looked and found plain-ole red but I still like my glitter fruit!

The pictures aren't the greatest, but I'm working on that. I'm definitely making more ASAP!

Maybe I should take the picture further away or with a better background......humm..... I really just wanted to show this off! I'll try to take some higher quality pictures this weekend!

Plushies Galore!

I've gotten interested in plushie making recently, and it ALL started with the picture you find below. Aiwa is the talented crafter of these lovely plushies, and you should really visit her site if you would like to see some REALLY good plushies.

Now, other pictures that are currently inspiring my plushie making ventures.

^^Another one by Aiwa^^
I believe this ^^^^ is my next project....we will see. I did buy those eyes the other day though... :)
Look at this stitching on this ^^^^ OMG!!! I can only dream about stitching that neat......for now :)
^^ These are just too cute. I wonder how you would end up getting the edges browned like that......maybe you can lightly burn it? Any ideas on that???
This toast was made by someone I know personally who said that I inspired them to make these! Aren't they cute?!?! She used her own little spin on them and I think they are adorable! Sew Amore is the name of her blog, which you should really check out. She's got a really neat etsy shop of the same name, Sew Amore, where she sells beautiful, handcrafted jewelry!

Those are just some of the things that are currently inspiring me. I thought someone else out there might get inspired....or just love all the cuteness!! I'm always searching for pictures as inspiration so I may be posting more, this is a great way to save lots of ideas :)
